From: Invariant natural killer T cells regulate anti-tumor immunity by controlling the population of dendritic cells in tumor and draining lymph nodes

Figure 1

iNKT cells regulate the number of DCs in 4T1 tumors and draining lymph nodes. (A, B) Lymph nodes collected from healthy WT (black bars) and iNKT−/− (white bars) mice (N = 3/strain). (A) Full-face lymph node sections were stained with anti-CD11c mAb and positive cells counted. (B) Dissociated lymph node cells were gated on CD11c + cells and expression of CD1d and co-stimulatory molecules CD80 and CD86 determined by flow cytometry. (C-F) WT (black bars) and iNKT−/− (white bars) mice were inoculated s.c. with 4T1 cells. On indicated days, tumor-draining lymph nodes (C), non-draining lymph nodes (D), and tumors (E, F) were excised, tissue sections stained with anti-CD11c mAb and positive cells counted. Numbers are the mean ± SD of 3 mice of each strain analyzed at each time point. (F) Representative fields (400× magnification). Results are representative of two experiments. * p < 0.05.
